The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus supports students and their educational goals by offering a number of scholarships based on merit. Scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications such as academic, athletic or artistic talents. Recipients must meet the eligibility criteria and support their application with all necessary official documents.

 

1.   Celebrating Student Achievement Awards Program:

 

This program puts the focus strongly on student achievement and leads to scholarships being available to more students.

The program includes:

  1. Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships: to reward new students’ academic excellence automatically upon entrance to the university. These awards are non-renewable. please see Academic Excellence Awards for further scholarship opportunities.
  2. Academic Excellence Awards: to reward current students’ academic achievements during their studies

Both incoming and current students will be motivated to do well and continue to do well, as they will know automatically at what level they will be rewarded.

A.   Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships (Egyptian Nationality only)

Eligible students entering The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo campus in September directly from high school in their graduating year will automatically qualify for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship based on their Grade 12 average, the average calculated on the five courses used for admission into the University.

 

Note: Awards of more than 1000 (CAD) will be posted to a students account in two installments, divided equally at the beginning of each semester, following full time registration.

 

Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships will be paid on a student’s account following the student’s full-time registration.

 

Note: Eligible students entering The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus for the first time in January will qualify for one-half of the stated scholarship amount and this amount will be paid on a student’s account following the student’s full-time registration.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Graduates will qualify for the entrance award based upon the following:

*Note: Students taking EAP (Fulltime, 1 or 2) Preparatory or Foundation Courses do not qualify for the entrance scholarship.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have submitted the application for admission and received an ID
  • Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship awards will be confirmed for a guaranteed value upon receipt of final official high school transcripts.
  • No need to apply for Entrance Scholarships. Awards are automatically posted to a student’s account following full-time registration.

B.  Academic Excellence Awards: (All The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus Students)

Continuing University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus students, including international students, entering their second, third, or fourth year of study in a first undergraduate degree are eligible for Academic Excellence Awards.

Eligibility Criteria:

 

  • All students entering second, third, or fourth year will automatically qualify for Academic Excellence Awards based on grade performance at The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus in the previous academic year, September to August and as per the chart above.
  • A student’s grade performance is calculated as a weighted overall academic average, which includes all numeric grades received in courses completed weighted by the number of credit hours assigned to each course. 
  • Students must maintain full-time registration status, full-time defined as a minimum of 15 (fifteen) semester hours of credit in each semester (fall and winter semesters). (September and January) to be eligible.
  • No need to apply for the academic excellence award as the CGPA (Cumulative GPA) and scholarships will be calculated and assigned automatically.
  • Marks will be automatically assessed every May after the student’s first year at The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus hosted by The Uof Canada. If the student does not qualify after the first year, he/she can still earn an Academic Excellence Award in the following year if his/her marks improve.

2.       President’s Gold Full Scholarship: (Egyptian Nationality only)

The President’s Gold Full Scholarship is granted to 10 graduate Students of the top 100 from the published list in the Egyptian Certificate “Thanawiya Ama” (based on the highest GPA)

Eligibility Criteria for Renewal

  • Full time registration in September and January (not less than 15 hours per semester).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above throughout study for the scholarship annual renewal.

3. Athletic Entrance Scholarship: (Egyptian Nationality only)

  • Full Scholarship: is granted for students who attain a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place in an individual sport tournament
  • 50 % Scholarship: is granted for students who attain a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place in a team sport tournament

*$5,000 CAD: is granted for students who attain 1st Place in individual or team sport in National or regional tournament.

*$2,000 CAD: is granted for students who attain 2nd Place in individual or team sport in National or regional tournament.

*Awards will be posted to a student’s account in two installments, divided equally at the beginning of each semester and following full-time registration.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Submit official documents verifying eligibility for Athletic Scholarship (awards, certificates, current athletic status, )
  • Minimum High School GPA of 75% upon admission
  • Have submitted their application for admission and received an ID number
  • Full time registration in September and January (not less than 15 hours per semester)
  • Not to be on probation at any time during their study
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of (3) and above throughout their study for the scholarship renewal. Marks will be automatically assessed every May after the student’s first year at The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus.
  • Continue to practice their sport and play tournaments under the name of The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Cairo Campus, if needed and requested.
